Hiya Folks
I’m Sian, I am the volunteer co-ordinator for The Safe Foundation, and will be part of the amazing team of young people and support workers who will be heading to Sierra Leone in the next few weeks to work in Kankaylay Islamic Primary School, Sierra Leone. The Safe Foundation have a long term commitment to this school and have recently rebuilt five class rooms following their destruction in the landslides. Our team will be working with the children to decorate the classrooms as well as delivering basic educational programme covering life skills, nutrition, HIV and Aids and Gender equality.
There is so much to say about a project like this, not only will we have an opportunity to support people facing extreme poverty in West Africa, for the young Welsh people taking part it is an incredible life changing opportunity, many have been faced with issues such as family breakdown, homelessness, substance misuse, mental health problems and/or have been caught up in the criminal justice system. This experience helps them to understand the links between their own lives and the lives of others, empowering them to understand the positive difference they can make in the world.
I am very excited to be part of this project and know that any contribution you can will make a positive difference.
Just click on the link and give what you can
Massive thanks and lots of love
Sian xx
