Here in Wales, we are a nation build on togetherness; and nothing unites us more than fighting for a good cause. From supporting local campaigns to creating awareness of national agenda topics, we really are an opinionated bunch! Below, we at SAFE shed some light on some of the many Welsh businesses doing their bit for charity.

Rhino Recruitment.com

Rhino Recruitment.com, a construction recruitment agency based in Cardiff Bay is a business that takes CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) incredibly seriously. Seeing Managing Director; Andrew Roberts, skydive in April for charity, the whole team are committed to raising money for SAFE on a regular basis.

Andrew is kindly skydiving to raise money for our latest project. Our Founder, Hannah Fitt, says:

"It always means so much to us when people want to support our work- but when they do it by throwing themselves out of a plane thousands of feet up- then we appreciate it even more! Andrew is such a huge support to SAFE and his contribution and bravery is pretty epic. We all want to wish him all the luck and say a massive thank you! His efforts will, as always, make a difference to the people that need it most."

Bid-in

Spearheaded by British Olympian, Jamie Baulch, Bid-in is a silent auction business that places charity fundraising as its core objective. Having raised millions of pounds for various organisations, Bid-in auctions off sporting memorabilia and experience packages, getting event attendees to bid for prizes. With the majority of the money raised going to charity, Bid-In has supported Cancer Research, Kidney Wales and the likes.

Jamie Baulch says:

'One of the reasons I love this business so much is that everyone wins. From the person buying the memorabilia to the business and the chosen charity; everybody walks away with something to smile about".

Harlequin Print

Based in Pontyclun, Harlequin Print and Packaging are a successful, established business with strong ethics sewn through the seams. Whilst specialising in printing, they have proven to be a pretty dab hand at fundraising too! Before Christmas, Harlequin set out on an innovative project with homelessness charity, the Wallich. Teaming up with John Lewis, the businesses together launched the 'One Knit Wonder'; a unique hat kit that contained everything needed to knit a beanie hat from scratch. Helping the charity ‘knit homelessness in the bud’, the kit was marketed as a Christmas gift. Seeing 1,260 boxes sold by the weekend before Christmas, the businesses smashed their fundraising targets, raising over £12,000.

Seeing the businesses nominated for a Third Sector Cymru Award, this campaign simply proved the power of togetherness.

Delme Beddow, Director of Harlequin Printing & Packaging in Pontyclun, said:

“We really wanted to give something back to the community and the partnership with The Wallich and John Lewis came at a perfect time. It’s great that we’ve been able to use our extensive printing and packaging expertise to create something that will have a positive impact on the streets of Wales.”

Capital Law

Choosing a partner Charity every year, Capital Law enjoyed a successful 2017, raising thousands for the #StandUpToBullying campaign. This year, they aim to continue their charity work, nominating the Wooden Spoon Society as their Charity of the Year

Chris Agius, one of Capital Law's partners, is a member of the Wales Committee for the charity. He said:

"A huge thank you from the Wales Committee of the Wooden Spoon Society for choosing Spoon as Capital’s charity of the year. We are a national charity, but in Wales we’re represented by a committee of eight volunteers who’re committed to raising money to increase the quality of life of disadvantaged and disabled children."

"All of the money raised in Wales is spent in Wales – and our projects range from the North to the South."

"We are the known to many as “the children’s charity of rugby”, and, from sensory rooms, specialist playgrounds, or sports activity areas, to respite, medical, and community care, we fund around 70 national projects, and ten local ones."

Paul Clayton, the brand's HR Director, added:

"#StandUpToBullying was our Charity of the Year throughout 2017. We recently received a personal note of thanks from their CEO for raising over £4,000 - so thank you to everyone at Capital, and here's to 2018."

Last year, Introbiz put on what they called 'the biggest networking event of the year', welcoming some of the biggest business leaders to the Motorpoint Arena.
