Bio

When scrolling through your Facebook timelines, you will see so many of your Friends raising money, sharing links to various fundraising pages. This is why it is important for your fundraising story to stand out. This can be achieved through your summary/bio, giving readers some context of why you are doing what you are doing.

According to the popular charity crowdfunding site, JustGiving, "writing a page summary is linked to a 36% increase in page value."

Although the more information the better, it is important that you are clear about what the page is for, what charity or cause you are representing and where donators' money will help.

Embed videos & Images

As they say, a picture paints a thousand words. This is why, when setting up your page, let the pictures do some of the talking. However, ensure they are not pixelated and that you have rights to post the image.

"Uploading a profile picture is linked to a 23% increase in page value" says JustGiving.

Target

Whilst every little helps, when setting up a JustGiving page, defining a target can go a long way in helping you reach it. Allowing people to get on board with what you are looking to achieve, a target also allows you to promote with a purpose.

"Setting a target donation amount can result in a 45% increase in page value" says JustGiving.

Drive traffic to your page

Now that you have your page looking and reading well, it is time to start promoting it to the world. Below are a few ways you can generate traffic to your page:

  • Send your page to your email contacts
  • Post links on your social media pages
  • Send details of what you are doing to media titles
  • Add a 'Sponsor Me' badge to your email/website/blog

Updates

Though your page has one purpose, to raise money, it's a good idea to keep your benefactors up-to-date with your progress. By posting messages of thanks and a live feed to your money pot, you can start to build a small community of those interested in what you are doing.
