Appeal for clothing donation – INDIA

The Monsoon passage across India affected our local project, partners & especially our beneficiaries, the Gypsy Dalits. Their homes and belongings were washed away. SAFE began a campaign for the collection of emergency clothing mainly for the children. If you want to donate children’s clothes you can send it to our office or drop it in person.

After six weeks of training, our ten NEETS (Not in Employment, Education or Training) are ready to begin their mission in Waterloo (near Freetown). Their goal is to work with the local children in different topics related to: HIV/AIDS education, life skills, nutrition education, football skills and other stuff. This project is conducted by the SAFE in partnership with Cardiff East Communities First and supported by Forging Links and The Craig Bellamy Foundation. We’re so excited!

Fair trade with the Dalit’s!

We’ve started trading with a group of Gypsy Dalit women in Mugaiyur, Tamil Nadu, India! Based on ethical and traditional principles, we will be trading fashion items, especially beadwork. SAFE will make no profit from the scheme & all profits will be returned to our beneficiairies. We’ll keep you posted on the new arrivals!!

She’s amazing and exotic because she comes all the way from Colombia to work for us!! Not really, but she is from Colombia, and she’s very beautiful.

You might have noticed we’ve been a bit quiet lately!

There are a few reasons – first we keep being hacked! We’re so sorry if you’ve tried to get on our site in the past few days to donate, check for progress on our projects or comment on any posts, but a group who call themselve zcompany hackers keep on stealing our web space and causing us problems. We hope to have resolved it soon and we hope that groups like this can soon realise the problems they cause for people who are trying to do good work in the world.

The other reason we’ve been quiet is because we’ve just started a big project in Sierra Leone and it’s taking up quite a lot of our time – we’ll have lots of information for you soon, so keep a look out on here and on our facebook pages and twitter.

Say hello to Maisie moo!

She’s the new SAFE cow, which was gifted to our partner beneficiaries, the WCDT in Mugaiyur in India.

She’s got a baby on the way, so the communities that we support can make an income from TWO cows in the near future!

Income will come from milk, curd and other dairy goods and will help people achieve a better standard of living.

One cow only costs between £150 and £300, so if any of you little lovelies want to donate to our expanding farm, get in touch!

Our new favourite person….

We have a new favourite person, his name is Gareth Davies and we actually love him.

Not only is he a very, very, very, very nice man, but he is a very, very, very, very, very kind man and he decided to donate lots and lots of his hard earned pennies to The SAFE Foundation to support our project in Cambodia.

As a result, we’ve been singing ‘go, go Gareth Davies’ to the tune of the power rangers theme song for the last week and we’re thinking about making a little shrine for him in our office.

Mr Davies, thank you. From the bottom of our SAFE hearts, thank you. We will definately be buying you a beer some time in the near future!
