Here at SAFE we are sooooooooo happy to be telling you of a very special donation from a very special lady.

Our huge thanks and appreciation goes out to the English Rose that is actress Emma Thompson who has kindly put her hand in her pocket for The SAFE Foundation. What a champ!

Emma’s donation and support will help our projects in Kumasi, Ghana and India and continue to grow the tribal schools that we are assisting…

Thank you Emma!

(As if we needed an extra reason to go and see the new Nanny Mcphee movie in March! See you at the movies!)

We had a fantastically productive trip to Kumasi, Ghana. Here are a few of the things we got up to on the trip.

Sport Clothes for Kids!

A huge Thank You to Suzanne Portsmouth for her donation of sports clothes for the children. As you can see they all loved the clothes and it was a great to be able to see the donation going straight to the children themselves. Thanks again, Sue, what a star!

Whiteboards for school

Thanks to everyone’s donations from events we were able to provide Asawasi Methodist Junior High School with some much needed whiteboards for their 6 classrooms. Here are some photos of them being constructed and put up by the local carpenter, we even managed to help a bit! Thanks everyone, great to see what your generosity is being used for!

After a successful and productive trip to the project in Kumasi, Ghana, we’ve returned with lots of new things to tell about the project aims.

The town of Kumasi which has a popluation of 3 million people has NO playground equipment for the children. Not one playpark in the whole town! So with our help, our partner organisation Teensnet Foundation are going to provide a mobile playpark for the children to use. So, we’re on a mission to raise the money to provide the play equipment to be used. This is a wonderful and sustainable sub-project as it means local people will be employed to run the mobile play park. The money made by renting the equipment to schools for example, will pay the wages of the people running it and any profits will be put into savings for the main project there ‘The Centre of Hope’. For more information on the main project please have a look at the Ghana Project page. If you would like to donate to this part of the project you can donate through paypal on our Chipin on the right of this page.

Also, our original plan to replace the local primary school roof was looked at and due to the disrepair of the whole building, we have agreed to re-build the whole building, foundations, walls and all. The volunteers have been arranged and they’re on their way in January to do the work.

We’ve got a lot more news coming up about the Ghana project so keep checking back to see progress.

After a brilliant last weekend we wanted to say a few Thank you’s.

Fair Play Festival in Canton went down a treat and everyone involved had a great time, so a Huge Thank you to the organisers Jodie & Bryce and all at The Lansdowne  for donating 50% of the profits made to The SAFE Foundation. They donated a whopping £950 which will go towards our project in Kumasi, Ghana. Have a look at our projects page to see what we are doing there!!

We also made our first appearance at WOMAD Festival in Charlton Park this year, Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a cup of tea, chats and face-painting. We raised £800 and lots of awareness for what we do here at SAFE. Hope to see lots of you checking out our website, and as always, get in touch if you have any questions or want to hold an event on behalf of The SAFE Foundation. Also, look out in the future, we will be starting Volunteer Programs in our projects very soon.

Thanks again everyone, its wonderful to see the support for SAFE enabling us to help underpriviledged communities in the world!
